AIA MAINE 2021 DESIGN AWARDS

The AIA Maine Design Awards program recognizes outstanding architecture projects by our members.

These stunning projects, spanning a diverse spectrum of project sizes, types, locations, and clients, show the range of work by Maine architects.

We are currently accepting submissions for our 2021 Design Award Program.

UPDATES

Every year we adapt our awards program to reflect current best practices and the feedback of our membership. For the 2021 program, AIA Maine is pleased to add two new opportunities for award designation.

To recognize the work of our allied professionals and their professional organizations, we have connected with the Maine Interior Design Association (MIDA) and the Maine Section of Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA) to add a landscape and an interiors award designation.

Please note, an AIA Maine member must act as the lead submitter regardless of the category of consideration. 

SIMPLE, YET MEANINGFUL

Like last year, we are basing some of our submission questions around AIA's Framework for Design Excellence. The AIA Framework for Design Excellence is a tool developed by the AIA.

  • This tool aims to help transform the day-to-day practice of architects to achieve a zero-carbon, equitable, resilient, and healthy built environment.

  • The questions are designed to be simple, yet meaningful. 

  • Most are Yes/No questions that focus on design strategies and processes. In some cases, the questions provide an external link so that relevant metrics can be looked up online. 

  • Throughout the submission, we have provided context for each of the ten measures and shared some top-line, best practices to help incorporate high-performance strategies into any project.

DATES + DEADLINES

  • Friday, February 12, 2021 - Registration opens

  • Wednesday, March 3, 1:30 pm - Informational webinar session on how to use submission software and a Q&A

  • NEW DATE - Friday, March 19, 2021, 11:59 pm - Early bird registration deadline (prices increase $100 entry after this)

  • Friday, April 2, 2021, 11:59 pm - Final submission deadline. All online submission material and payment must be

    completed by this deadline.

FEES

  • $125/entry for the first entry and $75 for subsequent entries on or before Friday, March 12, 2021. *

  • Free student entries.

JURY

The 2021 jury is based in Austin, Texas, and includes a diverse group of distinguished AIA members.
