Architect II | Designer III
We are seeking an Architect II | Designer III with 6 or more years of experience to join our architecture studio. The ideal candidate has a deep interest in the built environment, a developed understanding of building performance and envelope design, and is committed to producing high-quality work. We are especially interested in connecting with designers who bring curiosity to the design process and a collaborative mindset to project development. We are a team that proactively seeks creative and practical solutions, often working closely with our construction and millwork teams to best serve our clients.
Our award-winning headquarters in Portland, Maine, is designed to support in-person collaboration and creativity. One day a week of remote work may be available; otherwise, this is an in-office role. In this role, you will:
Be responsible for specific technical design aspects of assigned projects, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions
Create presentations that may include technical drawings, renderings, diagrams, and other materials to communicate concepts with clients and team members
Participate in regulatory review and confirm compliance with local and state codes
Apply advanced architectural concepts and design skills independently
Provide professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of complex projects
Collaborate with Principal Architects, Project Managers, and team members from Schematic Design through Construction Documentation
When appropriate, lead a project from initial planning through Contract Administration with guidance from senior staff
Coordinate with our Construction and Millwork divisions, along with other consultants, to understand budgets, schedules, and technical requirements
Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or refined techniques
Communicate with clients and team members to address design needs in a timely and professional manner
Mentor and support junior staff by providing technical guidance and design feedback
Occasionally measure and document existing structures
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
Licensed Architect or actively on the path to licensure
Six or more years of professional experience, with experience in custom residential or commercial architecture a plus
Proficiency in Revit or other 3D modeling software (Revit preferred)
Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite
Familiarity with Twinmotion is a plus
Interest or experience in interior design is a strong asset
