Wondering what new building products are being developed in Maine?
With the goal of strengthening connections between of product developers and the engineers, builders and architects who will be using them, passivhausMAINE is thrilled to host its inaugural trip to UMaine’s Advanced Structures and Composite Center in Orono. Russell Edgar, the Senior Lab Operations & Wood Composites Manager, will provide a tour of the ISO 17025-accredited testing laboratory and multidisciplinary research facility that develops novel advanced composite materials and structures while building on Maine’s manufacturing strengths and natural resources. The tour will focus on the center’s ongoing Norway spruce testing for the Northeastern Lumber Manufacturer’s Association (NELMA) and cross-laminated timber (CLT) research being conducted for the USDA.In addition, Nadir Yildirm, recent recipient of a major grant from the National Science Foundation, will talk about his latest work with eco-friendly Thermal Insulation Composite Foam Boards.
phME has organized a bus to transport attendees from Portland with a stop in Augusta. The bus transportation is included in the ticket cost.
