About the lecture:
Portland is experiencing growth due to its extraordinary quality of place. People from all over the country and the world are migrating here to enjoy one of America’s best small cities.
Growth has sparked controversy. The tension between new and old is challenging our ability to find consensus on a vision of our future. PSA wants to help Portland create a world class urban center that invigorates the human spirit and reflects enlightened ideals.
2015 AIA Gold Medal winner Moshe Safdie believes “it is the cities we create that really matter”. He advocates for the integration of culture, commerce and governance into urban centers worthy of our civilization as the most urgent task for our profession.
Please join PSA at the Portland Museum of Art to hear this celebrated architect share his experience and wisdom on how densification and development can best be achieved in a small scale city with a rich heritage.
