Whitten Architects

We are seeking an Architectural Designer to join our studio in Portland, Maine. This is an on-site position.

We design homes that live with nature because we believe nature inspires the human spirit. Established in 1986, Whitten Architects practices residential architecture in the Northeast at a variety of scales and in a wide range of architectural languages. The studio’s work has been recognized by numerous awards and delighted clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce clear, detailed architectural drawings and 3D models primarily with ArchiCAD 

  • Support and collaborate with project leaders including conducting site visits, maintaining clear and thorough project notes, and communicating with builders, consultants, and clients as needed by the team

  • Provide client-focused service 

  • Lead or assist in the assembly of design presentations

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of professional experience

  • A passion for residential architecture and a love for nature

  • NAAB-accredited Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)

  • Knowledge of wood frame construction. Hands-on experience in construction is a plus

  • Proficiency in creating construction documents. ArchiCAD experience is a plus

  • Understanding of building science fundamentals

  • Maine resident or willing to relocate to work on-site
