POSITION: Architectural Designer (Full Time)
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: 3-5 years

Simons Architects is an innovative design studio located in Portland, Maine. Specializing in high-performance buildings with a primary focus on institutional and civic work, we value teamwork, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving. We have built an open studio environment with an emphasis on collaboration and finding opportunities for design in the unique needs of each project. We believe that thoughtful design creates a better human experience.

WE ARE HOPING TO FIND:

  • a collaborative, creative, self-motivated and organized individual to join our team.

  • 3-5 years of professional design experience, preferably working on commercial and institutional projects

  • a professional architectural degree, BArch or MArch, or equivalent track

  • ability to work efficiently in small, flexible teams

  • a strong work ethic with initiative and ability to work independently on discrete
    tasks with a project manager as needed

  • ability to support material and assembly research and consultant coordination

  • the ideal candidate will be in the process of pursuing professional licensure and
    have some familiarity with building codes

  • strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills

  • abilities, or interest in developing technical proficiency to support Construction Documentation

  • strong Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape and 3D Modeling skills

  • knowledge of LEED, Passivhaus, and Living Building Challenge is desirable

  • a positive attitude and a good work ethic is a must.
