We are currently accepting submissions for the 2025 AIA Maine Design Awards Program

CURRENTLY OPEN FOR SUBMISSION

The AIA Maine Design Awards program recognizes outstanding architecture projects by our members. These stunning projects, spanning a diverse spectrum of project sizes, types, locations, and clients, show the range of work by Maine architects and play a vital role in showcasing design leadership and transformative projects in our region and beyond. We are so grateful to our members for the work they share every year.

Here are some of the highlights of the 2025 program:

  • Two Options To Submit Based on the AIA Framework For Design Excellence:

The AIA Framework for Design Excellence is a tool developed by the AIA. This tool aims to help transform the day-to-day practice of architects to achieve a zero-carbon, equitable, resilient, and healthy built environment.

This year, we are offering two options to submit your project to the Design Awards for 2025.

  • Option one: Like last year, we ask simple yet meaningful yes/no questions that focus on design strategies and processes based on the AIA Framework for Design Excellence.

  • Option two: Upload your completed Common App for Design Excellence. The Common App for Design Excellence is an Excel-based tool adopted by state and local AIA Chapters nationwide as part of their Design Awards process. The Common App tool is based on the AIA’s Framework for Design Excellence and produces a spider chart to visually represent your project's performance as it relates to the Framework.

  • Architrave Award:

After a successful trial last year, we are making the Architrave Award a regular part of our program. The Architrave Award aims to acknowledge excellence in traditional design through the thoughtful adaptation of tradition to address 21st-century needs. Works are to be designed in a style broadly considered as “traditional.” This award will run simultaneously with the Design Awards program but will have a separate jury. The jury will be instructed to review these projects in the context of excellence in traditional design.

Projects may be submitted for consideration in the Design Awards program or the Architrave Award, but not in both programs.
