Gratitude for the Outgoing Board of Directors:
At our Annual Meeting, 2021-2022 President Kathryn Wise shared appreciation for our outgoing Board Members:
“We would not be where we are today without the contributions of some very dedicated and impressive Board Members, some of whom are ending their tenure on the Board. I would like to take a moment to thank these members who have contributed their time, their ideas, and have shaped our profession and architecture in Maine for the better. With that, I would like to thank:
- Michael Lassel, AIA, of Lassel Architects, who served on our board for five years, and in that time served as our national liaison to the small firm exchange and helped the State of Maine pass the Good Samaritan law in which Architects can now help in a professional capacity after natural disasters.
- Kristian Kowal, AIA, of WBRC Architects Engineers, served on the Board for two years and represented a voice for our central Maine architects.
- Jaimee Stoddard, Associate AIA of SMRT, served on the board for two years and served as the Emerging Professionals chair. Jaimee co-lead that committee through licensure, and implemented new ways for members to access testing materials through Black Spectacles.
- Kay Stevens Rosa, AIA, of A4 Architects, served on the board for 10 years, and in that time served as our president from 2017-2018, and most recently worked on our legislative affairs team.
- And lastly, Jesse Thompson, AIA, of Kaplan Thompson Architects who served on our Board for 12 years. In that time Jesse served on multiple committees, was always a strong voice for our profession, members, and sustainability. In addtion, Jesse served as our president from 2019- 2020. I want to personally thank Jesse for acting as a mentor to me, particularly during these last two years as president.”
