We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 Design Awards Program.

The American Institute of Architects Maine (AIA Maine) Design Awards Program represents the collective design accomplishments of our members for 2019. AIA Maine has sponsored its Design Awards program biennially since 1981 to assemble and recognize the contributions of Maine architects and allied design and construction professionals in our region. 2019 is our first annual Design Awards program.

AIA Maine is proud to present the work of its members to a broader audience to deepen the public’s awareness of architects and their work. We are thrilled to include 56 projects by 28 firms and one student submission in this year’s Design Gallery. The quantity and quality of submissions in 2019 are a tribute to our state’s growing design community and dedication to Maine’s built environment. It comes as no surprise that many projects were selected for award recognition, as the standard of design excellence continues to grow during these busy times.

On behalf of AIA Maine, congratulations to all those who submitted to the Design Awards in 2019. We are proud to be able to share your work with the state at large and our entire membership. We would also like to give a giant thank you to our sponsors for their financial contributions without which we would not be able to hold an event of this magnitude. Lastly, special recognition goes to Chairperson Jessie Carroll, AIA, and Executive Director Jeannette Schram, and the remainder of the Design Committee for their continued efforts this past year. It is the dedication of these practitioners that makes the awards program possible.

The design efforts of these last years by our membership is a tremendous gift to all of us in the state of Maine, and we look forward to even better things to come in the years ahead.
