Bummed Out by the Housing Crisis? Let’s Talk Solutions.

Bummed Out by the Housing Crisis? Let’s Talk Solutions.

AIA Maine is bringing members together for a critical conversation on housing policy. We’re looking for your feedback as members and practicing architects on how AIA Maine can play a part in ending the housing crisis in Maine.

Elizabeth Frazier, policy advocate from Pierce Atwood, will break down the key legislative initiatives this year and share insights from Maine’s Housing Outlook, a recent report from MaineHousing. From affordability to zoning, she’ll provide the big-picture view of what actions are happening at the state level and what it could mean for architects and the built environment.

Jesse Thompson of Kaplan Thompson Architects will dive into the real-world examples of design and regulatory hurdles he has faced while working on affordable housing projects throughout the state. Jesse will share his experiences and, more importantly, ask for yours. This is your chance to bring up the hot-button issues affecting your work and help shape the conversation on where policy needs to go next.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, speak up, and be part of the solution. The feedback from this discussion will serve as a foundation for AIA Maine’s Legislative Committee to develop a more targeted and effective approach to supporting housing solutions that align with the needs of architects and their communities.
