Please join us to hear Jesse Thompson, partner of Kaplan Thompson Architects and Drew Dumsch, director and founder of The Ecology School, talk about their plans and aspirations for building the school’s new campus, which is designed to be among the greenest projects in Maine.
The Ecology School, which provides residential and day ecological education programs, purchased the 105 acre Riverbend Farm in North Saco and hired a consortium of architects, led by Kaplan Thompson, to design a campus that meets the Living Building Challenge, a rigorous standard that addresses the full life cycle impact of materials and systems. The school must produce more energy than it uses; and will include a “solar orchard” where solar panels will stand among trees and sheep, as well as rainwater harvesting and low-flow toilets.
