About the Project:
The owners of a popular nightclub and sports bar and grill in downtown Portland wished to increase concert capacity, upgrade offerings to both patrons and performing artists, and make infrastructure improvements to enhance life safety and energy systems -- all on a tight footprint in Portland’s Historic District.
WBRC Architects Engineers was selected for this challenging and rewarding project, and Consigli was awarded the contract for its construction. Together with the owners and their consultant, the team devised a series of synergistic improvements that will allow Aura to host selected national touring acts and provide a more upscale experience for all of the facility's users.
The existing 1960s building footprint is being expanded both horizontally and vertically, adding nearly 9,000 additional square feet and increasing the concert occupancy. The project planning included a partial demolition of the facility, and a construction plan that allowed it to remain partially operational.
Goals for the project include increased capacity, improved stage sightlines, upgrades to accessibility and safety, and an enhanced experience for patrons, performers, and the venue’s outstanding staff.
