AIA Maine Members Win Three Awards at the 2015 AIA New England Design Award Program

Congratulations to AIA Maine members Carol A. Wilson Architect, GO Logic, and John Gordon Architect for receiving top honors among New England's finest architectural work at the 2015 AIA New England Design Award program.

Two of three total Honor Awards in the category of Single Family Residence went to Maine architects. Carol A. Wilson Architect of Falmouth, ME was awarded an Honor Award for the Mill House project on Chebeague Island.  While GO Logic of Belfast, ME was awarded an Honor Award for their Little House on the Ferry project on Vinalhaven, ME.

John Gordon Architect of Bucksport, ME was awarded a People's Choice Award for the 2015 AIA New England Design Award program in the category, "Your favorite house to Live" for the 363HOUSE in Portland, ME.

Jury comments: This is a beautifully conceived, articulated, and detailed house that speaks with great power and restraint in the landscape. There is careful consideration of natural light, materiality, and order. The project exhibits a finesse worthy of the site and demonstrates the success of careful, respectful siting and delicate intervention.

Jury comments: The three pavilions have a casual, sure-footed simplicity. There is a distilled essence of familiar New England aesthetics that follows through to the interiors.

Your favorite house to LIVE

363 House, Portland, ME
John Gordon Architect, Bucksport, ME

363HOUSE is a new, small, LEED Platinum, near net-zero house, which uses a skillful blend of universal design and accessibility principles.


The AIA New England 2015 Design Awards recognize design excellence by New England architects and projects in New England by architects beyond the region.  The jury included Frank Grauman, FAIA of Bohlin, Jackson, Cywinski; Richard Maimon, FAIA of Kieran Timberlake; and Brett Webber, AIA of SPG3.
